SOURCE wrapped 2024 with several insightful luncheons. Topics ranged from the touring industry (featuring FBMM’s Betsy Lee, and Post Malone tour manager Mark Oglesby) and creating boundaries (Big Loud Senior VP of A&R Sara Knabe, singer-songwriter Emily Shackelton, and Porter’s Call Co-Executive Director and Counselor Beth Barcus) to stories of sync success (Anacrusis’ Liz Rogers, Honestly Good Music’s Katie Jelen, and recording artist Sam Tinnesz) and the hurdles of being a woman in the music business. The latter luncheon featured 2024 SOURCE Hall of Fame inductees Teena Camp, Marty Craighead, Kathy Harris, Sheree Spoltore, and Jo Walker-Meador Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Jeannie Seely.
Last year also brought the heartbreaking loss of SOURCE Nashville co-founder Pat Rolfe. The longtime music industry executive, who worked with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Eddy Arnold, Hank Snow, Eddie Rabbit, Bill Monroe, and George Morgan, died peacefully in her sleep on May 24, 2024.
A mentor to many, Rolfe became one of the first women to head a major publishing company when she was elevated to general manager at Hill & Range in 1972. A fierce supporter of other women, she brought Celia Froehlig into the company, where they both stayed until Chappell Music purchased the Hill & Range companies in 1975. She continued at Chappell Music and during her tenure, the company was named ASCAP Publisher of the Year seven times.
Rolfe rose to vice president and held that post until 1987 when Warner Bros. Music purchased Chappell. That same year, the late Connie Bradley, longtime ASCAP Nashville head, offered Rolfe the position of director of membership relations. Rolfe remained with ASCAP, rising to the position of vice president, until 2010. During her time at ASCAP, she brought in writers Tony Mullins, Deryl Dodd, Trevor Rosen, Hillary Lindsey, Josh Kear, Chris Tompkins, Michael Knox, Gerry House, Tim Ryan, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, and Wynonna.
Alongside Judy Harris and Shelia Shipley Biddy, Rolfe’s vision led to the creation of SOURCE in 1991.
